Voluntary commitment - be it in the political, cultural, social, economic or sporting field - shapes the social coexistence of a town and deserves the highest recognition. The city of Rastatt has various ways of recognizing this special commitment.
City badge of honor
The city of Rastatt awards the city badge of honor in gold and silver to people who have rendered outstanding civic services to the city of Rastatt. The badge of honor is awarded in gold for 25 years of service and in silver for 10 years of service.
Citizens' reception of the city of Rastatt
Once a year, the city of Rastatt invites citizens to a reception in the Reithalle Rastatt. On this evening, the Lord Mayor awards the town badge of honor to citizens who have been involved in voluntary work for many years. However, the citizens' reception also honours those everyday achievers whose work cannot yet be recognized with the town badge of honour. Those to be honored are nominated by the associations and institutions for which they volunteer. The awarding of the Citizens' Prize is also an integral part of the Citizens' Reception. It is donated and awarded by the Rastatt Citizens' Foundation.
Nominate volunteers for the award
Recognizing and naming commitment
Anyone wishing to nominate someone for the City Badge of Honor can send an informal application with a list of the volunteer's functions and a justification for the award to the Mayor's Office.
In the run-up to the citizens' reception, around 50 clubs and institutions from the entire spectrum of club life, aid and rescue organizations and civil protection are also selected. Depending on their size, they can then nominate a maximum of three people. All clubs and institutions in Rastatt will be considered within five years.
