With around 65,000 media and over 100,000 visitors a year, the city library is an important place for cultural education and personal encounters. The city library promotes reading and language skills and teaches media literacy. The library team supports its visitors in their search for information and entertainment media for professional and school education as well as for everyday and leisure activities. Numerous events and exhibitions for children, young people and adults enrich the wide range of media and services on offer.
Multilingual and intercultural
Over 500 original and bilingual books and audio books - in English, Russian, French and Arabic, among others - build a bridge between the different cultures.
Tried and tested language courses in more than 30 languages make it possible to learn a new language. A wide range of material to improve German language skills promotes mutual understanding. In addition, offers for multipliers, library flyers in various languages and special guided tours ensure that all cultures feel at home in the city library.
Sustainable and fair
High-quality education, gender equality, fewer inequalities, sustainable consumption and climate protection - the City Library supports the global Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda by providing comprehensive information and practical implementation. After all, lending, sharing and using resources together is a fundamental principle of the library.
