Civil wedding in Rastatt? No problem. However, before couples can say "I do" in the Rossi House, the local administrative offices or Rastatt Castle, a few formalities have to be clarified.
Registration of the marriage
Before the wedding ceremony can take place, the fiancées must have formally registered the marriage. With the registration, the responsible registry office checks that the marriage requirements have been met.
It is possible to register the marriage at the Rastatt registry office and the local authorities if one of the fiancées is registered as having their main or secondary residence in Rastatt or in one of the districts. Registration can take place at the earliest six months before the planned marriage. Couples can tie the knot within six months of registering their marriage.
In principle, the fiancées should attend the registration in person and together. If one of the fiancées is unable to attend, he or she can agree to the registration by the other fiancé in a declaration of accession.
Couples can find out which documents they need to register their marriage in a personal meeting or by e-mail.
Appointment reservations
Appointment reservations are only accepted in writing. Either by letter or e-mail. The following information must be included in the appointment request:
- Desired date and time
- Wedding venue
- the names of both partners
- the telephone number(s)
- the approximate number of guests to be expected
- express declaration of consent of the fiancée for the forwarding of the above-mentioned data to the Rastatt Palace Administration (only applies to appointment requests for Rastatt Palace and Favorite Palace).
If the desired date and wedding venue are available, the couple will receive written notification that the wedding date has been reserved.
The reservation only means that the date will be kept free. A marriage can only take place on this date if all legal requirements are met. The registry office therefore recommends that you find out in good time which documents need to be submitted to register the marriage.
Procedure of the wedding ceremony
The wedding ceremony at the registry office usually lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. In addition to the bureaucratic procedure, the wedding ceremony can be customized. This requires prior consultation with the registry office.
The civil wedding ceremony begins with the bride and groom being greeted. The personal details of the bride and groom and the witnesses are then established.
The couple then enter the wedding room and the ceremony begins with the registrar's speech. This is followed by the question of consent to the marriage, the exchange of rings, the first kiss as bride and groom and the reading of the marriage register entry by the registrar. The marriage ceremony is officially completed with the signatures of the bride, groom, witnesses and the registrar.
This is followed by congratulations to the bride and groom.
