The simple facades of the Kulturforum date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The interior, with a large courtyard decorated with fountains, has a modern design.
Today, the building houses the Rastatt municipal library, the basement theater, the music school and the children's and youth club. During the summer months, events such as the children's flea market and the cinema summer take place in the inner courtyard.
Children discover Rastatt:
Music and theater were of great importance in the Baroque period. Rastatt Palace had a court chapel with a court conductor and a theater.
Special plays were written for this theater. In the past, many people could not read or write at all. But that is important, because reading and writing are like a key. Those who can read and write unlock the world for themselves. It was therefore very important to the margravine that the children of the margraviate could do both.
You can learn to play an instrument at music school. There are specialist teachers for every instrument, whether violin or piano, flute or percussion. In the Kellertheater, actors and actresses take to the stage and perform fairy tales as well as classical and modern plays for children and adults. If you like dressing up or want to play a different character, you will have a lot of fun playing theater.
