Ottersdorf is located to the west of Rastatt city center in the middle of the Rastatter Ried nature and landscape conservation area. First mentioned in documents in 1318, the village of around 2,400 inhabitants has a historic town center with old half-timbered houses around the parish church of St. Ägidius. The Riedmuseum makes Ottersdorf a popular destination for cyclists and holidaymakers along the Rhine. Ottersdorf has its own bathing area at the idyllic Lindensee lake. Another unique feature in the region is the two-kilometre-long fruit nature trail with over 200 types of fruit.
The head of Ottersdorf is Stefan Lott. He has been in office since October 19, 2009.
