In the Vogelsand development area in Rauental, around 38 detached houses and 12 semi-detached houses are to be built on an area of around 3.9 hectares on the southern edge of the village. Four apartment buildings are also planned, in which senior-friendly living is possible. The apartment buildings will have underground parking. The ground-breaking ceremony on January 28, 2025 marked the start of development work by Gesellschaft für kommunale Baulanderschließung mbH (GkB). The first residents are expected to move in as early as 2026.
The plan is to connect the residential area to the sports areas and the Oberwald forest via a green pedestrian path. This will also serve as a fresh air corridor. The inclusion of nature plays a major role in the planning of the new development area. There is a particular focus on species protection.
BIT Stadt + Umwelt GmbH was responsible for planning the new development area in cooperation with Gesellschaft für kommunale Baulandschließung (GkB) from Karlsruhe. The municipal council approved the urban development concept on May 22, 2022
The development plan was adopted as a statute by Rastatt municipal council on March 18, 2024.
As a result of a ruling by the Federal Administrative Court on July 18, 2023, an environmental report was also prepared as part of the planning procedure.
