A rolling stone gathers no moss: With its wide range of leisure activities, the senior citizens' office of the city of Rastatt invites older people to take part in joint activities - be it lectures, French or computer courses, theater visits or singing and reading circles. The offer is aimed at active seniors as well as older people who need help or their relatives.
Since 2003 there is the senior citizens' office of the city of Rastatt, which is run by volunteers and financially supported by the city of Rastatt. The volunteers provide advice and support on all issues affecting older people: From care facilities to senior-friendly living to active offers.
Leisure activities offered by the Senior Citizens Office
In addition, the senior citizens' office organizes a wide range of activities for older people. The offer ranges from language courses to gymnastics classes to computer courses. Everyone is invited to join in. Anyone who would like to get involved with the senior citizens' office and offer their own courses or take on planning tasks is also welcome.

Active into old age - Growing old healthily
The Senior Citizens Office of the City of Rastatt offers gymnastic exercises on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Rheintorstraße 25 in the Open Door Room as a program to maintain mobility, muscle tone and bone stress. It is an introductory program even for untrained people in the second half of life. It consists of a combination of Chinese traditional and modern rehabilitation and sports medicine. People who do not train their bodies in the second half of life through targeted exercise are gambling away their quality of life. It is never too late to use exercise as a remedy. Watercolor painting
The senior citizens' office of the city of Rastatt offers watercolor painting with art lecturer Jürgen Pfeiffer on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month in the senior citizens' office in Rossi-Haus from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.. People who like to be creative in their free time or want to discover their creativity are welcome. Previous experience is not required. Participants will learn the basics of watercolor painting and how to work with materials (paper, colors, etc.). The principles of perspective, image division and color harmonies will be covered theoretically and tried out practically. Please bring: Watercolor paints, brushes of strength 22 - 66), water glass, soft pencil, eraser, sponge or rag, paper at least 300-thickness, paper kitchen towels.
Consulting cell phone and internet 55plus
For all problems with mail, text, spreadsheet or image editing programs, the advice center for cell phones and Internet 55+ is the place to go in the senior citizens' office. Every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon, experts work with visitors to try to solve problems individually on a PC or laptop, tablet or smartphone (please bring along). Upon request, seniors can also receive brief instruction in the use of a digital camera, its memory card and the creation and maintenance of a picture archive. There will also be an introduction to taking pictures with a smartphone. Experienced computer users are also welcome and can exchange ideas with each other and the experts in a friendly atmosphere.
Café contact
Every Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m., the senior citizens' office of the city of Rastatt invites senior citizens to Café Kontakt in the foyer of Rossi-Haus. Over coffee and cake, visitors can meet nice people, have interesting conversations and find out about the wide range of services for seniors. Registration is not necessary. Just drop by!
Choir: Singing is fun - Sing along!
Young and old can sing along in the choir of the Seniors' Office. German folk songs and international folk songs are sung. The first priority of the Seniors' Office choir is the joy of singing together. Everyone, young and old, is welcome to join the choir. Regular meetings are Wednesdays at 3 p.m. in the Rossi House, Herrenstrasse 13.
The choir director is Dagobert Müller. He studied orchestral and choral conducting, voice and piano at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar from 1976 to 1980.
English course
Seniors often finally have time to travel. At the Senior Citizens' Office English course, they can learn their first language skills or brush up on their English as a travel language. For beginners and participants with some knowledge. Dates weekly Wednesdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Rossi House Senior Citizens Office.
Gymnastics with Adrea Holz
The senior citizens' office of the city of Rastatt offers weekly gymnastic exercises on Mondays from 9 to 10 a.m. in the "Open Door" room at Rheintorstraße 25. The program is designed to maintain range of motion, muscle tone and bone stress. It is an introductory program even for untrained people in the second half of life. It is never too late to use exercise as a healing tool. Registration is not required.
Italian course
Mandala painting
In a relaxed atmosphere every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month in the Rossi House participants can paint mandalas. Mandala means circle and serves in our cultural circle for relaxation, stress relief, concentration and has a calming effect. Everyone who enjoys beautiful colors and shapes is welcome, including grandchildren.

Open singing
For many older people, singing was part of life. In old age, they often have an amazing repertoire of songs that they know by heart. Even if the voice gets older, the joy of singing remains. The opportunity to sing with musical accompaniment is offered every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 10 to 11 a.m. at Rossi House.
Schwätzbänkle
Dance again
Dancing keeps body and soul healthy and brings joy of life. The senior citizens' office offers a dance tea for the more mature generation over 55 every 3rd Saturday of the month in the "Open Door", Rheintorstraße 25 (entrance from the courtyard). There is dancing to the music of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Drinks are also provided.
Theater Group "Ready for the Stage - Age Plays (no) Part".
The theater group of the senior citizens' office in Rastatt is looking for seniors who enjoy acting and who would like to develop and perform their own play together with theater teacher Jaqueline Frittel! Anyone who enjoys people and theater can participate. No prerequisites are necessary. Just a little courage! There is no fixed age limit - neither to the bottom nor to the top. The only important thing is the desire to play and the joy of working in a very humorous and amiable ensemble. Rehearsals take place in the Rossi House or the Kellertheater. Yoga in the best age
Getting older in a healthy and relaxed way - that is the goal of Karin Wahrer, who will expand the offer of the senior citizens' office of the city of Rastatt with a yoga course. The course "Yoga at the best age" takes place every Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the hall of the "Open Door" in Rheintorstraße 25. The first "taster" sessions are offered free of charge.
Participants should bring a yoga mat, blanket, cushion, towel and non-slip socks.
