In Plittersdorf, the focus of village development is on the Rhine promenade, Fährstraße/Ankerbrücke, the town center, Blumenstraße, the southern entrance to the town and the southern edge of the town. The redesign of the banks of the Rhine at the ferry terminal has already begun and is scheduled for completion in autumn 2023.
More information on the new Rhine promenade
Fährstraße/anchor bridge
The area around the Anchor Bridge is an important crossing point. Many people pass through there, including cyclists on the PAMINA Rhine cycle path. An eye-catching floor covering is to visually extend the Old Rhine promenade on the flood protection dam across Fährstrasse. A platform with seating is also planned to provide an uninterrupted view of the Old Rhine. In addition, the Fährstraße will receive improved lighting.
Town center
The town center is to be significantly upgraded. To this end, Schulstraße, Tullastraße, Blumenstraße and Fährstraße will be reduced to a minimum. Additional tree locations will be created alternating with parking spaces.
The move of the kindergarten to the new building opposite the Altrheinhalle will free up the building previously used. Senior citizens are to find a home there in future.
The neighboring village square will be visually extended by a uniform road surface across the entire width of Tullastrasse, which should lead to traffic calming. The same is planned for Fährstrasse between Rathausplatz and the school. In addition, the parking lot at the Edeka supermarket is to be extended.
Flower street
Six new detached houses are planned in the second row on Blumenstrasse. In this way, the residential development on the north-eastern edge of Plittersdorf is to be carefully rounded off. The plots can be accessed via Blumenstrasse and Kleinwäldelestrasse.
Southern entrance to the town
The southern entrance to the village has already been redesigned with a traffic circle and crosswalk at the Altrheinhalle. The new St. Raphael Catholic daycare center was also built there - an important individual measure of the village development concept. More trees are to be planted along Riedstrasse to give the entrance to the village an avenue-like character. A playing field is also to be added to the adjacent sports field. The renovation of the clubhouse is also desirable.
Southern edge of the village
A new residential area as well as mixed-use and commercial areas are planned on the southern edge of the village. The first priority for commercial use is the area around the existing buildings of the Stoll company. Another commercial area is located on the street "Im Seefeld". In turn, a local grocery store is to be located on Seefeldstrasse. In addition, the construction of detached and semi-detached houses north of Fährstrasse is being considered to round off the southern edge of the village.
The planning for the fire department has changed. Contrary to initial considerations (as still shown on the plan), the location will be relocated to the eastern edge of the town and the traffic circle will be removed. The new fire station will be built directly on Fährstrasse.
