Pack your garbage bags, put on your gloves and spring cleaning can begin. In 2024, the city once again called on daycare centers, schools, clubs and businesses to take part in the "Clean City" campaign. in 2024, more people took part than ever before. Around 3,000 people ensured that the city was clean on the campaign days from March 11 to 15, including almost 2,000 schoolchildren, around 660 kindergarten children and almost 360 people from clubs and businesses.
Compared to the previous year, this is a proud increase of almost 600 people. There was also a record number of garbage collected: Volunteers collected a total of 8.5 tons of garbage in the city, 0.5 tons more than in 2023 and a whole 2.3 tons more than in 2022. The Mayor of Rastatt, Monika Müller, also had high praise for the outstanding commitment to cleanliness: "I am very impressed and grateful that so many people in Rastatt's city center and districts were out and about for a clean city. I am particularly impressed by the committed participation of children and young people and would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. Let's hope that the "good spirit" of the campaign week continues and that many others follow suit!"
Knuth Zeitsmann, customer area manager for city cleaning at Technische Betriebe and coordinator of the "Clean City" campaign, points out the enormous amount of waste that has been collected during the campaign weeks over the past 20 years: From 2004 to 2024, with the exception of the Corona year 2020, almost 100 tons were collected. The civic participation in the campaign in Rastatt is exemplary. "Perhaps we will set a new record for participants next year, when the motto is once again from March 10 to 15: join in and work together for a clean Rastatt," says Zeitsmann.
