The town twinning with Orange in the French Provence is the oldest town twinning in Rastatt. It has existed since 1965 and is maintained particularly at club and school level. Orange has around 30,000 inhabitants and is located in Provence in the department of Vaucluse, around 15 minutes from Avignon. Orange is famous for its Roman ruins, among other things.
Particularly worth seeing are the triumphal arch and the amphitheater, where the famous "Chorégies d'Orange" opera festival takes place every summer. Surrounded by vineyards and orchards, Orange has also long been an important marketing center for agricultural products. The famous "Châteauneuf-du-Pape" and "Côtes du Rhône" wine regions are very close by. Further information can be found on the website of the city of Orange.
