With around 3,000 inhabitants, Plittersdorf is the largest and oldest district of Rastatt. It is located directly on the Rhine on the border with France. Plittersdorf was first mentioned in 730/731 in a document from the Weißenburg monastery. The extraordinary landscape of the "Rastatter Rheinaue" nature reserve in particular makes Plittersdorf a first-class local recreation area. Since 2017, the largest river cruise ships on the Rhine have also been able to moor at the jetty in Plittersdorf. And with the Rhine ferry to Seltz, Alsace can be reached in just a few minutes.
Mathias Köppel has been the mayor of Plittersdorf since October 25, 2004.
