From June 9, 2024 to January 12, 2025
175 years ago, Rastatt was one of the main sites of the Baden Revolution. The town will celebrate the anniversary of these important events in 2024. To mark the occasion, the historical library in the Ludwig-Wilhelm-Gymnasium is showing a special exhibition entitled "With top hats and rifles... The Rastatt Lyceum and the Baden Revolution". The exhibition examines the role of the lyceum in the suppression of the revolution in July 1849 and the emerging dichotomy of those involved between approval and rejection. The valuable collections of the Historical Library and their "survival" during the bombardment of the town between May and July 1849 form a further focal point - as does the subsequent retreat into "bourgeoisie" after the end of the revolutionary movement.
