With around 65,000 media and over 100,000 visitors a year, the municipal library is an important place for cultural education and personal encounters. The city library strengthens reading and language promotion and teaches media literacy. The library team supports its patrons in their search for information and entertainment media for professional and school education as well as for everyday and leisure activities. Numerous events and exhibitions for children, young people and adults enrich the diverse range of media and services.
Multilingual and intercultural
More than 500 original and bilingual books and audiobooks - in English, Russian, French and Arabic, among others - build a bridge between different cultures.
Field-tested language courses in more than 30 languages make it possible to learn a new language. A wide range of material for improving German language skills promotes mutual understanding. In addition, offers for multipliers, library flyers in different languages and special guided tours ensure that all cultures feel at home in the city library.
Sustainable and fair
Quality education, gender equity, fewer inequalities, sustainable consumption and climate protection - the City Library supports the global goals for sustainable development of the 2030 Agenda by providing comprehensive information and practical implementation. After all, borrowing, sharing, and sharing resources is a fundamental principle of the library.
