Rastatt is a family and child-friendly town. This also includes needs-oriented child daycare. With the kindergarten requirements plan (PDF) (890 KB), the city regularly analyzes whether the places, forms of care and care times currently available are sufficient to meet the needs of families. The aim is to ensure that all children are ready for school and have the same development opportunities, regardless of their background, education and financial situation at home.
Childcare services for even the youngest children
In Rastatt, children between the ages of one and three are cared for in a total of 38 crèche groups in 22 facilities. This covers the city's current demand for children under the age of three.
Services for children from the age of three are being expanded
Rastatt is a growing city and is attracting young families. However, this positive development also presents the city with the challenge of meeting the increasing demand for childcare places for children from the age of three until they start school. The number of childcare places available in Rastatt and its districts is therefore constantly being expanded.
New daycare places from 2024
Nature kindergarten
The Rastatt Wurzelzwerge nature kindergarten Spielwiese gGmbH moved from Münchfeld to its new location in Ötigheimer Weg in July 2024. Spielwiese was able to expand its services there by adding a childcare group and now offers up to 40 places for children aged 3 and over in two newly built shelters.
Kindergarten in the former SWI building
The renovation of the former SWI building at Karlstraße 23 will result in a two-group kindergarten for children aged 3 and over. The facility, which will be run by the Internationaler Bund, will open at the beginning of 2025. The facility is expected to be available for selection in the municipal reservation system from October 2024.
Promotion of child day care:
From September 2024, the city of Rastatt will be funding "daycare in other suitable rooms" (TiGeR groups) in the city center, Wintersdorf, Rauental and Niederbühl. With a subsidy towards the costs of the premises, the city aims to subsidize the establishment and operation of large care facilities and hopes to further expand the range of care available for children under the age of 3. Applications for funding must be submitted informally to the Department of Youth, Family and Senior Citizens.
Further expansion
The city of Rastatt is planning the further expansion of daycare centers in order to create additional places for all children over the age of 3 and to meet the increasing demand for childcare for children under the age of 3. New daycare centers are to be built in the town center in Dörfel as well as in the districts of Rauental and Wintersdorf.
